FAQs

If your question isn’t answered below, please get in contact and we’ll do our best to help: Contact Form

- how do I sign up? What is the onboarding process?

Once you’ve read all the details on the page for a specific adventure you can use the sign up form at the bottom of that page and put down a deposit to save your place on the adventure.

By paying your deposit, you’ll be able to book in a time and date that suits you to have a brief ‘pre-adventure call’ with us so we can get to know you and confirm that the adventure is right for you. If it’s agreed that it is the right adventure for you, congrats! It’s time to start packing your bag!

- do I need a drivers licence to join?

Nope. Every adventure is different but even on the ones where we need team members to help us drive it’s never required from everyone.

- if I want to drive how do I get involved?

Send us a message using our contact form and let us know which adventure you’re interested in. No guarantees are made and this is always decided on a case by case basis. We take safe driving very seriously and reserve the right to change our decision at any time.

- Are there any age limits or restrictions?

You have to be 18 or older. There’s no upper limit, although certain adventures will not be quite so suited for older folks due to physical/health concerns. Get in contact if you’re unsure.

- what is included or what do I need to budget for?

Each adventure is different and will outline what is and is not included for the price, but typically it will be similar to the following:

Additional Costs:

  • Food & drink

    Typically £5-10/day

  • Accommodation

    Typically £5-10/day avg.

  • Travel insurance

    Typically ~£40/month

  • Optional extras (tourist sites, etc.)

Varies drastically depending on sites visited.

  • Unforeseen circumstances

Not often needed but a backup of £100 or so is recommended.

  • Flights

Completely dependant on where in the world you’re coming from.

Included in costs:

  • Vehicles

  • All vehicle preparation costs

  • All fuel costs

  • All ferry costs

  • Tents + Roll mats

  • Sleeping bags

- what happens if I can’t join for the full adventure?

This varies by adventure. Typically those available for the entire journey will get priority as our adventures are designed for folks to join from start to finish. If there are still spaces remaining then joining for smaller segments may be possible depending on date, logistics and nearby airports.

One of the ways we make these adventures so affordable is through the bulk numbers and the flexibility which that allows, so we prioritise filling the trip with those who are interested in the entire thing.

- can I bring my own vehicle?

This depends on the adventure. Get in contact and let us know as far ahead of time as possible.

- can I bring my own camping equipment?

Yes - so long as it isn’t oversized or unnecessary and meets our minimum standards for the given adventure. Let us know in advance so we can discuss and plan vehicle storage accordingly.

- what happens if I can’t make the adventure or decide to drop out?

The deposit for your place on the adventure is non-refundable. Refunds for other payments you’ve made for the the trip we will be looked into and depend on how close it is to the trip’s launch date. This will be decided on a case by case basis.

If the adventure itself is cancelled, then anyone signed up will be refunded their deposit and payments (minus any processing fees).

- what happens if I decide to leave the trip early?

This is decided on a case by case basis. Typically we’ll try and get you to the nearest city/airport/train station. Refunds are decided on a case by base basis.

- what happens if a car breaks down entirely and can’t be fixed?

We haven’t yet had this happen (although we’ve certainly come close!) but in the event of irreparable damage to the vehicle we’ll assess the situation and decide if a replacement means of transport is viable and make decisions accordingly.

- what happens at a land border? I’ve never crossed one before.

It highly depends on which countries you’re crossing between. Between European/Schengen countries you typically won’t be stopped. If you are it’s somewhat similar to airport security although typically more thorough.

There may also be visa/immigration controls where you’ll need to present your documentation.

The further into the wilderness these borders crossings are, the more systems are done by hand and on paper rather than digitally and so the more time we’ll set aside for the unique ‘experience’ that is crossing a remote land border.

The chaos of the more remote crossings can be alarming at first but that’s why we’re there, and you’ll soon realise it’s quite manageable.

- what happens when we get to cities?

Cities are great but can be problematic when you’re trying to coordinate 20+ people in 5+ vehicles through traffic to a yet-unknown location. And this is before figuring the costs of the accommodation and parking that will suit the entire group.
For this reason we tend to avoid cities once the convoy starts rolling on an adventure but this doesn’t mean we exclude them entirely.

We generally use the time we spend in cities as a chance to restock the vehicles, check on supplies and for everyone to take a day to themselves and do as much (or as little) as they’d like.

- will we have any breaks during the trip from camping?

This depends on each adventure but generally we’ll go a few days to a week of camping and then stop off in accommodation for a day or two. This is very dependent on the adventure’s route and timings and how the team is doing on a given day, but it’s a good rough guide.

- how do I pay for things along the way? Group costs or kitty.

For everything that isn’t included in the entry fee we use a group cost system where the convoy will pay for everyone in bulk (for discounts and ease of payment) and at the end of each week the totals for each individual are tallied up and collected, typically using Revolut.

We’ve tried MANY ways of doing this so far and this is the most efficient and transparent way.

- how do I keep in contact with everyone who is going on the adventure?

As the adventure starts filling up with sign ups, Becca will create a facebook group and group chat for everyone to get to know each other and discuss things ahead of time.

If there’s enough time before a given adventure and depending on which countries team members are coming from we also host in-person meet ups.
